Mother's Day is just around the corner!
It's this Sunday, 14th May. It's always on the second Sunday in May.
This is a great opportunity for single dads to model to their kids that they always put the kids first, compassion, forgiveness and how to behave with respect.
It can be a difficult time for many newly separated families, and even for some who have been living separately for years.
Remember this day is as much for your children as it is for their mother, so even though her behaviour may have been completely unreasonable towards you, I urge you to put the kids first. Be the bigger person and spend some fun time with your kids helping them to make something for their mum.
Your loving relationship has ended with her but theirs hasn't.
Do it for the kids!
Here are ten simple and inexpensive things you can make with the kids in just a couple of hours.
1. A pop stick jigsaw.
2. Bath salts
3. A vase from newspaper
4. Painted flower pots
5. Jar lid fridge magnets
6. Animal topped jars (fill with face cleaning pads/cotton wool buds/chocolates)
7. Birdfeeder
8. Customised photo candle (or draw with permanent markers on wax paper)
9. Personalised phone case
10. A handmade card
I do get it that you may not be feeling at all charitable towards your ex-partner for a variety of reasons but your kids are going to love spending the time with you making these cool craft ideas.
Consider it as a lesson and a gift to your child.
