Intent of Correspondence: Invitation to attend Mediation
Dear
It is a requirement of the Family Court that we genuinely try to negotiate an agreement before we take the next step of lodging an Application for Orders with the court.
Please read the accompanying Pre-Action Procedures Brochure for more information.
In order to make the best use of our time with the facilitator, I have been advised that we should each have acquired a good understanding of our rights and responsibilities. Below is a list of the personal information which we should have to hand in order to progress to making decisions:
- a complete schedule of our assets and liabilities including purchase dates and valuations
- a schedule of household and special items to be distributed
- a breakdown of our living expenses over the past 12 months
- a budget of anticipated future living expenses
- a substantiated indication of our potential earning capacity.
If you are willing to participate in mediation, we will need to make an appointment with a certified facilitator.
I have found the following registered mediators. Please indicate which you would prefer to engage.
Please let me know in writing if you are willing to participate and when it would suit you to attend.
We also need to make arrangements for paying for the service.
Thank you.
